I've been watching Disney since I was a kid. I was born in 1979 and just turned 29 the other day and I noticed something recently. Although I won't consider myself old I think generations are falling into a tendency to polarize more and more. I remember going to grade school and even junior high school (5-8) and noticing alot of people were the same. Oh we had our few typical macho men and femmes but there wasn't this huge gender line saying girls couldn't like football and guys couldn't like horses. What about ages too? Why can't someone older enjoy entertainment meant for the younger generation?
Well let me pose a statement that I believe truly. The words metrosexual, heterosexual, and homosexual are just words and nothing more. Labels are made far too powerful by people who take offense far too easily. So I am wondering are there guys out there that enjoy the Disney movies? Are there older folks who still cherish the memories from the Fox and the Hound? Do you still watch the Little Mermaid and sing with the songs despite the fact that you aren't 7 years old anymore?
I think this problem is not getting out of hand. I feel the problem is already out of hand. Who decides that a man is not aloud to enjoy a Disney Princess movie because of so-called gender roles? Who figured out one day that you have to mature and leave so-called 'childish' things behind? I say we not only take back what people think we should lose but try to dull some of the lines drawn by society. Should you decide to answer and bash me that is quite fine. I promise I will lose no sleep over what you say.
So here is my declaration.
I am a male
I am 29 and married
I LOVE Disney from TRON all the way to Beauty and the Beast
I love Belle
I know the songs from Little Mermaid
Don't like it? Sorry to hear to that.

Really, at 16 years of age, I always thought I was too old for all these games and Disney movies. So I guess I CAN enjoy those things now ;)
My mum is 50...something, lol, and she'll watch stuff like Spongebob Squarepants by herself (okay even watching it with me is no excuse since i'm 18) My sister is turning 21 and she cries watching movies like Lilo & Stitch. But yeah there's no age limit for that stuff :) parents with kids love it more i think since they get to have an excuse to buy the toys and games (although i don't think you should need an excuse!)
i love the little mermaid, beauty and the beast, HOND, lion king, you name it. i watch at least one disney movie a week. screw the haters.
Just gotta not care what everyone thinks
