I suppose I'll try out an article (if I'm even correctly doing this--I pray it so).

I am a sort of person who will spend much more time on my characters than my plot (as made obvious by my previous and first comic, Dillon, which I love despite its numerous flaws). I'm not entirely sure where the story came from; it's normally like that, I suppose. But I know for a fact I was listening to Orange Range's Asterisk and recalling how vivid the opening for Bleach was. I think that was were the cooky looks came from!

Johnny wasn't the first character I made, even though he is intended to be half of the main character. I made Mee-Ran-Dah first, on a 8.5 by ll sheet of computer paper my English teacher gave me.

Originally, Mee-Ran-Dah was going to have an extreme amount of details, lots of belts and jewelry and whatnot. But after I decided on Deadpill's storyline and what type of person she would be like, I realized she wasn't one to be gaudy and over-decorated. She's a simple, obvious being. Nothing too crazy. So I tossed all the crazy and unnecessary garments and gave her the look of a serious soldier ready for a fight.

And I did base her sort of airy, slow robes and movements on Byakuya Kuchiki of Bleach--I really don't like his character, but I figured he was the best to look at in terms of what Mee-Ran-Dah would be like: dedicated to her job (but unlike him even moreso dedicated to her friends).

I also tend to take random ideas and turn them into fun little character traits. The truth was that I gave Mee-Ran-Dah the 'doll making' fetish right before the page with the doll making fetish. I just sort of sat down, rolled on my floor, and thought about it.

And, of course, I decided to make her Captain Obvious. That lack of personality gives her personality, to me! The other thing that gives her personality is the contrast to the other people around her. A clear example is Gin, who is a complete opposite of her. He really brings out a lot in her, and that's important for the reader's idea of what they are as humans in a big, scary, great world.

Something else of interest to my friends was: why the hell cheesegraters?

Why not. :D

OH HECK YES.

Adding the pic at the bottom, just made it so awesome.

I'm so glad you like that pic.

Yeah, she's kid of growing on me a bit, just because shes so important to Gin and how Gin brings the nice out in her.

At first I just didn't like how she just barged in with her "cheese graters of death" but after a while she was pretty cool.

She's still kinda growing on me, we'll see how much I begin to like her.

(It's sad cause I hate Bleach, I won't talk about it)

Also I can hardly imagine her with lots of belts and stuff, but it's still cool to think about.

Much love, PROBABLY YOUR BIGGEST FAN EVER PROBABLY, -DCS
